This position will handle new & renewal monoline property business for our Michigan territory, along with supporting other branches in the Midwest Region based on business need. The Underwriter would be accountable for new business production and execution of underwriting strategies. Sales and marketing activities are expected for the building and maintaining of internal/external relationships. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen. This position will collaborate within a team of other underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management as necessary. This position will report to the Commercial Insurance Manager in our Troy, MI office. Responsibilities:The Executive Underwriter will:Establish relationships with key trading partners and drive submission activity across assigned Agents & Brokers in our desired industry segments. Be responsible for profit, growth and retention of assigned book Meet or exceed new business production goals while maintaining profitability across assigned portfolio and adhering to authority and strategies.In conjunction with the Underwriter Associate, retain key assigned renewals and lead coordination of Loss Control & Claims Service plans for service level accounts. Maintain and develop relationships with the branch, our brokers and clients.Develop, advance & execute against a prospect pipeline with our trading partners, as well as engaging other business units for cross-selling opportunities. Bachelor’s degreeUnderwriting experience preferably in the Middle Market Monoline Property segment.Confidence to gain a marketplace presence and become a trusted advisor for assigned agents/brokers.Presentation and public speaking skillsStrong negotiations skills and sales acumenInvest in local broker and insurance marketplace relationshipsKnowledge and understanding of current insurance marketplace conditionsUnderstanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authorityUnderstanding of Property Insurance coverage, terms and conditions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
