As a Lead Platform Engineer at Chubb, you’ll help design and deliver scalable, resilient platform solutions that support critical business capabilities across the enterprise. With a strong background in Java engineering and platform architecture, you’ll translate complex requirements into practical, maintainable solutions that improve integration, performance, and delivery speed. You’ll partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand needs, shape technical approaches, and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and long term strategy. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands on engineering depth with broad platform thinking and the ability to influence technical direction across teams.In this role, you will:Architect and implement enterprise scale solutions across Java based platforms, APIs, microservices, cloud services, and data driven systemsChampion platform centric architecture to improve reuse, extensibility, and speed of deliveryApply engineering standards and architectural principles across application and platform developmentBuild robust solutions using Java, Spring, Azure, PaaS services, AKS, databases, and related enterprise technologiesTranslate business and product requirements into maintainable technical designs, integration patterns, and clear documentationDevelop and integrate services using REST APIs, messaging, event driven patterns, and downstream system integrationsEnsure secure design and implementation using authentication, authorization, and API security best practicesImprove CI/CD pipelines, automation, testing, and release processes to increase delivery efficiencyMonitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and provide hands on technical support when neededMentor engineers, promote clean code practices, and contribute to continuous improvement across the team 10 years of engineering experience across enterprise technology environments including experience in platform, application, and solution deliveryBachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related fieldStrong insurance domain knowledge with the ability to apply business context to technical decisionsProven ability to shape strategic direction, influence technical standards, and contribute thought leadership across teamsExperience advising senior leaders on technology roadmaps, platform investments, and modernization prioritiesActive engagement in industry forums, communities, or working groups to stay current on emerging practices and trendsHands on experience building and supporting full stack applications, with strong knowledge of Java, relational databases such as SQL Server, and caching strategiesCloud experience, preferably with Azure services such as App Services, Azure SQL, Functions, and Key VaultExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools, along with Git and containerization technologies such as DockerPrior experience with and/or knowledge of policy administration platforms (Duck Creek, Guidewire, etc.) preferred but not required The pay range for the role is $160,000 to $190,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
