Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.Overview:In this role the Lead Engineer will support engineering activities in Engineering Product development Team engaged in structural analysis for NPI (New Product Introduction), redesign and technology programs of Aircraft Advance Structures and will support various Advance structures product lines including ETRAS.Position: Lead Engineer – Structural Analysis Primary ResponsibilitiesUnderstand system requirements, design intent, and comply with applicable structural analysis practices, standard works, aerospace standards, customer requirements and regulatory requirements.Lead structural analysis activities for NPI, technology programs, value engineering and resolve design issuesRecommend engineering solutions, taking account of critical constraints, including due concern for safety, cost, and weightDevelop analysis methods for making optimized products & components, meeting customer requirements.Perform classical hand calculation, Finite Element Analysis, detailed report preparation (stress reports and presentations)Strong knowledge on Vibration analysis, Static and Fatigue Analysis of Aircraft structures.Provide thoughtful ways to improve processes, tools, methods, and products and document the best practiceSupport manufacturing concessions and failure investigationsBe self-motivated and keen to get involved in new technologies and projects and learn new skills to map out future career pathActively participate in a team environment and work with customers, suppliers, and cross functional teams for product developmentEnsure analysis tasks are completed in time and with the required qualityBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals, engineering materials, stress, fatigue, and vibrationMinimum 5+ years of industry experience in in structural analysis (using FE tools, classical hand calculations)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in hydraulic and electro-mechanical product design/ structural analysisKnowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, surface and heat treatment processesMinimum 6+ years of hands-on experience using Ansys Classic, Ansys Workbench and MathcadExperience in productivity tool development using Excel VBA, Python etc.Knowledge of aerospace product compliance, qualification, and certification.Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
