As a Staff Mechanical Engineer in our Research & Development team, you will support multiple business units across the organization by leading the design and development of life-changing devices that directly impact patient outcomes. You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office as this is a hybrid role and you will need to be in the office 3 days a week and can work from home on other days.What You Will Do Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision. Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions. Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance. Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes. Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices. Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files. Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch. What You Will Need Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field). Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience. Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies. Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience in project management and financial analysis.Preferred Qualifications Experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment. Previous experience in medical device or regulated industry.
