Key job responsibilities * Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market. * Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry. * Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed. * Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use. * Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems. A day in the life As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the advancement of Leo's Software capabilities. This entails the development of products that facilitate reliable and high-speed communication with Leo satellites, supporting their mission-critical operations. Collaborating with a skilled cross-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the development, testing, production, and worldwide implementation of solutions and products that empower Leo's expansive global network. About the team Our team tackles many critical satellite payload functions including Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, hardware fault detection, isolation and remediation, operational state management, buses and devices integrity verifications (ex. PRBS), hardware and software integration. We are looking for an outstanding software engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations. In this role, you will: - Own unique embedded software functions through design, implementation (in C, C++, RUST or other), test, and integration in an embedded Linux or real-time operating system (RTOS) environment. - Write software to control silicon devices using proprietary and standard communication buses, such as Interlaken SerDes, JESD, PCIe, I3C, I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, etc. - Work closely with hardware teams to support board design, bring-up, and verification, as well as integration and test. - Follow best practices in high reliability embedded software development to ensure very high levels of system reliability and availability. - Debug low-level issues at the intersection of hardware/FPGA/firmware/software on multicore SOCs.
