Job Description

Amazon is seeking a Tax Analyst to join our Global Tax Controversy Team with a focus on EMEA tax controversy matters, including transfer pricing and Advanced Pricing Agreement (APA) disputes, Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAP), and tax litigation in connection with both corporate income tax and VAT issues. The right candidate for this role is someone who is comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, ready to roll up their sleeves and dive deep to deliver impactful results on multiple ongoing projects with competing deadlines. A day in the life You will work with various teams across the business to help drive forward and resolve tax controversy issues across the EMEA region. This role requires some international travel and you will be partnering with other members of the Amazon tax team handling various tax matters including transfer pricing, international tax issues, mergers and acquisitions, and tax compliance. This role will also coordinate and liaise with the Amazon Legal team on EMEA tax litigation matters. About the team The Global Tax Controversy team is responsible for tax audits and disputes across various jurisdictions globally including managing relationships with tax authorities in multiple countries. In addition, the Global Tax Controversy Team is responsible for the competent authority relationship between the United States and its treaty partners globally in both APA and MAP context.

Required Qualifications

  • professional tax, accounting or legal qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant (CA), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) or similar) (experience)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level (experience)
  • Knowledge of knowledge of VAT in EU/UK (experience)
  • Knowledge of strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions (experience)
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department (experience)
  • Experience tax advisory (excluding compliance) (experience)
  • Experience in tax with an EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) focus (experience)
  • Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm (experience)
  • Experience a direct tax role in a multinational and/or professional organization (experience)
  • Experience a transfer pricing advisory role in a multinational and/or professional organization (experience)
  • Experience in international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries (experience)
  • Experience advisory experience in a large accounting/consultancy practice, law firm, tax authority or business in-house. (experience)
  • Experience a compliance focused tax role in a multinational and/or professional organization (experience)
  • Experience tax authorities with exposure to multinational taxpayers / cross-border transactions. (experience)
  • 5+ years of tax experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm or an established tax department of a top law firm, or at an overseas highly regarded legal practice. (experience, 5 years)
  • Strong relevant corporate and/or indirect tax experience with a focus on tax controversy and/or transfer pricing. (experience)
  • Exceptional written and verbal English language skills. (experience)

  • Experience a corporate tax advisory role in a multinational and/or professional organization (experience)
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with a high level of commercial awareness. (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability of collaborating with multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams and ability to partner well with individuals at all levels within an organization. (experience)
