The Employee Relations Manager position requires an individual who has significant employee and labour relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. These competencies will enable the individual to work both independently to successfully manage a broad spectrum of ER and LR issues and partners across Amazon’s wide geographic and cultural scope. The position reports within the Employee Experience and Relations team at Amazon covering UK & Ireland. This is a full-time position that will require some travel, up to 30% of the time over the course of the year mainly in the UK and Ireland but occasionally in Europe. Due to the nature of the travel, the base location is flexible in UK. Key job responsibilities The central objectives of the Employee Relations Manager role are: - Regional ownership across a geographical region, managing multiple stakeholder relationships across multiple operational locations - Develop labour relations frameworks in new scaling business lines - Support senior leaders (up to director level) by providing labour relations technical depth expertise in both proactive and reactive project work This position’s responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories. - Facilitates and improves employee led groups / forums - Leading negotiation when neccessary - Identify and address employee concerns early, de-escalating and resolving workplace issues - The individual also will work as a project manager on proactive initiatives that improve employee relations and engagement. - On a reactive basis, the individual will undertake a significant amount of work on critical employee relations issues that are highly sensitive and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law (experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in employee relations. (degree in other specialized training in employee relations)
  • Experience and solid understanding of UK employment and labor laws (experience)
  • Direct experience in managing ERB relationships or employee forums in UK consultation environments (experience)
  • Negotiation experience (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships and work collaboratively across management levels and personalities to influence senior leadership, stakeholders, peers and employees at all levels across a large, dispersed and culturally diverse organization.   • Proven problem solving and analytical skills in an ambiguous environment with the capacity to work autonomously to manage competing priorities simultaneously while driving projects to closure. (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully scale labour relations frameworks in new business lines (experience)
