Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. You will join a multi-discipline team responsible for development of high bandwidth systems for free space optical communication between satellites. You will collaborate with engineering teams to assemble, integrate, and test optical assemblies. Key job responsibilities ● Execute the assembly, integration, and test of opto-mechanical and fiber optic devices, test stations, and supporting GSE to performance and workmanship standards. ● Execute qualification test procedures for aerospace hardware, collecting data and tracking progress against test plans and success criteria. ● Perform precision fiber optic splicing, termination, and characterization operations; validate quality through quantitative measurement. ● Measure and characterize optical assemblies and laser systems, documenting results and flagging anomalies. ● Maintain rigorous cleanliness standards and proper optical/fiber handling techniques throughout the build process. ● Coordinate task execution within assigned workstreams, tracking progress and flagging schedule or resource risks. ● Support the development and improvement of assembly and test procedures based on hands-on build experience. ● Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve integration challenges and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback.
