Are you passionate about securing identity systems at global scale? The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Security team is seeking a Security Engineer to help protect and improve authentication and authorization across Amazon's Stores, Digital, and Other (SDO) organizations. In this role, you will: - Participate in architectural reviews and threat models for identity systems - Develop and support requirements for Amazon's IAM security initiatives - Improve access management infrastructure across a complex global environment - Provide authN/authZ design review and threat modeling services across the enterprise - Implement and maintain automated security audits for identity workflows - Collaborate with business teams on technologies such as FIDO2, Kerberos, Single Sign-On, and Passwordless Authentication We invest in deeply understanding the different ways Amazon does business to devise strategies that meaningfully improve security posture while enabling business productivity. You'll work on difficult problems independently, influence service teams, and drive security outcomes across teams. Data-driven decisions are important to us. Key job responsibilities As a Security Engineer on the IAM team, you will work across multiple security disciplines to protect Amazon's identity infrastructure. A typical day may include: - Reviewing threat models for new authentication flows and recommending mitigations to service teams - Conducting security code reviews on identity protocol implementations (OAuth, SAML, OIDC) - Writing and maintaining Python scripts to automate security audits and generate compliance reports - Consulting with business teams on passwordless authentication, FIDO2, and SSO deployments - Analyzing alerts from detection tools and investigating identity security events - Communicating findings and security recommendations to stakeholders and leadership A day in the life As a Security Engineer on the IAM team, you will work across multiple security disciplines to protect Amazon's identity infrastructure. Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience (experience, 3 years)
  • 2+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review in a common programming language (non-internship) experience (experience, 2 years)
  • 2+ years of troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating basic tasks using command line tools (non-internship) experience (experience, 2 years)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (degree in computer science or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP (experience)
  • Knowledge of industry-based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience (experience, 2 years)
  • Knowledge of command line tools to troubleshoot protocols, analyze log outputs, or automate basic tasks (experience)
  • Experience with AWS products and services (experience)
  • Experience performing security activities across one or more phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), such as security design review, threat modeling, secure code review, and security testing (experience)
