Job Description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a Senior Phased Array Architect, you will lead critical efforts to design and deliver next-generation antenna systems that will redefine how people connect to the internet. you will: - Define and lead the architectural vision for advanced phased array antenna systems, ensuring they align with performance, scalability, and reliability goals. - Serve as the technical authority on phased array systems, providing strategic input on program decisions and long-term technology roadmaps. - Drive system-level design and optimization, creating blueprints that guide RF, digital, and hardware teams across the organization. - Oversee system integration, ensuring seamless interaction between phased array systems, RF front-ends, and digital beamforming architectures. - Guide cross-functional teams—including RF, software, and systems engineers—to implement designs that meet stringent performance, power, and thermal targets. - Collaborate with product management, supply chain, and operations to ensure architectural decisions align with business goals and production realities. - Set architectural direction for manufacturability and testability, ensuring designs are robust, scalable, and ready for high-volume production. - Mentor and develop junior engineers, cultivating a team culture of technical excellence and innovation. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent (degree in above in electrical engineering)
  • 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience (experience, 7 years)
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines (experience)
  • Experience in phased array design principles, including beamforming, steering, and calibration. (experience)
  • Experience with RF front-end design, high-speed digital systems, and signal integrity. (experience)
  • Experience with system modeling tools and architectural design methodologies. (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent (degree in electrical engineering)
  • Experience in Space Vehicle/Satellite Operations, Space Communications or related industry (experience)
  • Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis (experience)
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments (experience)
  • Familiarity with EM simulation tools (e.g., CST, HFSS, ADS) and system-level modeling platforms. (experience)
  • Knowledge of at least one modern programming or scripting language such as C, C++, Python, or MATLAB (experience)
