Job Description

Amazon Aurora DSQL is a serverless, distributed SQL database that combines the performance and scalability of cloud-native architecture with the familiarity and ecosystem of PostgreSQL. Aurora DSQL automatically scales compute and storage, delivers high availability across regions, and eliminates operational overhead—while remaining compatible with PostgreSQL applications and tooling. As a Software Development Manager on the DSQL Dataplane team, you will be responsible for leading a strong team of software engineers that are responsible for parts of the hot path of running queries. You will be responsible for mentoring and coaching a high-performing team of engineers with expertise in distributed systems and databases. You will be responsible for the full development life cycle and operation of services. You will work with the product team and other engineering teams to help build the roadmap and ensure the right thing is being built and delivered to customers. Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience (experience, 3 years)
  • 7+ years of engineering experience (experience, 7 years)
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience (experience, 8 years)
  • 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience (experience, 3 years)
  • 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience (experience, 1 years)
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience (experience, 1 years)
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience (experience, 1 years)
  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience (experience, 1 years)
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (degree in foreign equivalent in computer science)
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations (certification)
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy (experience)
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers (experience)
