We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Austin, TX, USA | Sunnyvale, CA, USA Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Dash Button, Amazon Echo and Alexa. What will you help us create? Are you passionate about protecting millions of Amazon customers? We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to build security software for our device services (Echo, Fire TV, and more). In this role, you will collaborate with Security Engineers and Applied Scientists to design and implement security features that safeguard our device platform and its backend services in AWS against evolving threats. To push the boundaries of what's possible, you will explore LLM and machine learning techniques—including supervised and unsupervised learning and model optimization—to identify and neutralize malicious patterns at scale. You will also build backend web services to support data collection and real-time analysis. Key job responsibilities - Build security detection mechanisms in our device software. - Build backend services to process and enable client side abuse detection. - Build tools and mechanisms to process device data at scale in order find anomalies and protect our device customers. - Work in a fast paced team using Agile methodology. - Embrace the use of AI to automate and ship faster. A day in the life Our team is a builder team dedicated to building tools and mechanism to detect device abuse in the field, and apply mitigation when detected. Salary

165,200 - 223,600 USD / yearly

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience (experience, 5 years)
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience (experience, 2 years)
  • 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience (experience, 2 years)
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (degree in foreign equivalent in computer science)
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language (experience)
  • 5+ years of server-side development experience (experience, 5 years)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience (experience, 5 years)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (degree in computer science or equivalent)
