In service of Amazon's Prime Video customers globally, it is our role to produce and acquire content, including popular Originals such as The Boys, Fallout, The Silent Service, The Bachelor Japan, Nippon Sangoku, Look Back, and Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26. Within Amazon MGM Studios, the International Originals Strategy team is seeking a highly analytical and strategic thinker to join as a Studios Strategy Analyst in Japan. This role will focus on content strategy for Japan Original series and movies on Prime Video. The analyst will work closely with senior leaders across creative development, production, business affairs, finance, programming, and marketing, and will have a high degree of visibility within the organization. We are seeking a candidate who has proven analytical skills and an ability to clearly communicate findings to senior management. This role is based in Tokyo and works with both local and global teams. Business-level Japanese and English are used day to day. Key job responsibilities • Own and manage content tracking databases (e.g., Airtable or equivalent), designing views, automations and workflows that keep cross-functional teams aligned on slate status, deal pipelines and project milestones. • Build and maintain dashboards (e.g., QuickSight or equivalent) that surface actionable content performance insights, including viewership trends, title-level ROI and portfolio health metrics. • Analyze viewership data to surface insights, identify trends and inform senior leadership decisions on content investments and release models. Be fluent in AI tools that accelerate insight generation and reporting automation. • Evaluate content opportunities by assessing financial, strategic and audience engagement considerations. Audit business metrics, perform deep-dive root-cause analyses and make data-driven recommendations. • Partner with Finance and Analytics teams to continuously improve internal tools, processes and valuation models. • Support series greenlight and renewal assessments, including content valuation and portfolio analysis. • Perform extensive competitive analysis and benchmarking, and identify and report on market trends. • Liaise with cross-functional stakeholder teams such as Content Acquisition, Business Affairs, Legal, Production, Post, Localization, Marketing, PR, Finance, Accounting and Research to identify new initiatives and drive them through execution. About the team Amazon MGM Studios Japan is the Tokyo-based production and development arm focusing on local Japanese original content for Prime Video. The studio produces both scripted and unscripted content, including anime, aiming to deliver high-quality local stories to both domestic and international audiences.
