In this vital role, you will lead strategic initiatives that shape Amgen’s Oncology Therapeutic Area future, with a focus on topics in the R&D space. While the role can be located remotely there is an expectation that availability at times of high activity may need to accommodate some Pacific Time Zone working hours.Lead and manage strategic, cross-functional projects commissioned by Development leadership.Independently drive project execution and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.Develop and support annual therapeutic area strategies, including oncology portfolio planning.Conduct technology assessments, deep-dive analyses, and landscape evaluations.Perform cross-portfolio analytics, risk assessments, and strategic decision-support activities.Support scientific collaborations with external academic partners through the Amgen Partners of Choice program.Facilitate scientific exchange and coordinate partnership-related projects.Manage global external communications and represent the organization with key external stakeholders.Serve as a trusted advisor and representative for Development leadership.Navigate ambiguity and lead ad hoc strategic initiatives and special projects as business needs arise.What we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The dynamic professional we seek is a leader with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 4 years of healthcare business experienceOrMaster’s degree and 7 years of healthcare business experienceOrBachelor’s degree and 9 years of healthcare business experiencePreferred Qualifications:MD, MBA, MS, Ph.D. or equivalentEight (8) or more years of strategy experience within management consulting, finance, or corporate strategy functionsRobust knowledge of biopharma industry (i.e., pharma development, translational sciences, R&D processes)Understanding of interplay among various stakeholders in the industry, awareness of trends and recent developments, and ability to research / learn/ synthesize findings on new topicsOncology R&D experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical company)Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a decisive yet affiliative leadership style to drive results while maintaining relationshipsStrong presence with Senior Executives including ability to communicate effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basisProven experience as a member and leader of a high performing teamWhat you can expect of usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
