Career CategoryEngineeringJob DescriptionThe Specialist IS Engineer will assist in designing, developing, and maintaining applications and associated data engineering solutions that meet business needs and ensuring the availability and performance of critical systems. This role involves working closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create high-quality, scalable solutions and automating operations, monitoring system health, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime.You will be part of a team specifically focused on Amgen’s Commercialization business. Amgen is using fully integrated and best-in-class technologies, having various enterprise platforms such as AWS, Databricks, Salesforce, Planisware and Anaplan; enterprise collaboration platforms such as O365, SharePoint Online and MS Teams, as well as vertical-specific platforms in R&D, Operations, Process Development and Commercial/Marketing areas.This role will manage the Amgen India Commercialization Technology product team members and be part of the R&D Informatics organization. They should also have experience leading and effectively working with large, diverse and globally dispersed teams within a matrixed organization. Extensive collaboration with global cross functional teams is required to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the end-to-end software development lifecycle, experience with data integration, experience leading or mentoring junior engineers, and be a Scaled Agile practitioner, coupled with leadership and transformation experience. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational critical initiatives and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure. Roles & Responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement of software applications and modulesTake ownership of Development/configuration of user stories in collaboration with the Technical Product Owner and Technical LeadCreate and maintain documentation on design and configurationDevelop prototypes and proof-of-conceptsContribute to both front-end and back-end development tasks using various Amgen preferred platforms/toolsWork with the team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating when neededAnalyze business and technical requirements and translate them into development tasksExecute unit and integration tests, and contribute to maintaining software and data qualityIdentify and fix bugs and defects during development or testing phasesContribute to the maintenance and support of solutions by monitoring performance and reporting issuesLead development CI/CD pipelines as part of DevOps practices and assist in the release processLead and mentor junior engineersBasic Qualifications and Experience:Master’s /Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with minimum 8 - 12 Years of Experience.Functional Skills:Must-Have SkillsWorking experience in Agile or Scrum methodologiesProficiency with cloud-based platforms (AWS) and system integrationWorking knowledge of version control systems like Git & Release management toolsFluent in enterprise collaboration platforms such as O365, SharePoint Online and MS TeamsIncorporate AI tools in daily activities as well as proactively seeking opportunities to utilize and extend AI toolsets into development workDirect experience managing and/or coaching technical staffDirect experience in working in global teamsMastery with at least one programming language (Python, React, or similar)Ability to balance strategic architecture with practical implementation, ensuring designs are executable and sustainableBroad interest in various Amgen preferred platforms/toolsEagerness to learn and grow in an engineering environmentAbility to work well within a team and communicate effectivelyGood-to-Have Skills:Experience with Amgen’s enterprise platforms (AWS, Databricks, SAP, Salesforce, Planisware)Experience with Smartsheet/Excel/Tableau/SpotfireKnowledge of Python/R, Databricks, cloud data platforms Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, tools, and best practices.
