Career CategoryOperationsJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Sr. Associate, R&D Operations Supplier Management & Performance Analytics (SMPA), supports the effective management and oversight of external suppliers delivering services across Amgen Research and Development.This role is responsible for the tactical execution of SMPA processes, supplier performance activities, transactional support, data and document management, and cross-functional coordination. The Sr. Associate works closely with R&D functional teams, supplier governance partners, Supplier Functional Management Teams, and external suppliers to promote timely execution, accurate reporting, process compliance, and effective issue escalation.The role also provides project and process management support for supplier-related initiatives and maintains the systems, databases, documentation, and meeting infrastructure required to support the SMPA operating model.Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Management and Performance SupportSupport the tactical execution of R&D Operations supplier management and performance analytics strategies.Monitor supplier key performance indicators, service metrics, milestones, and operational deliverables.Consolidate supplier performance information and prepare metric rollups, dashboards, summaries, and meeting materials.Identify performance trends, risks, issues, and data gaps and escalate them to the appropriate supplier or functional lead.Support Supplier Functional Management Team meetings, including agenda development, meeting coordination, documentation of decisions, and tracking of follow-up actions.Maintain supplier-related databases, trackers, team resources, and performance records.Transactional and Operational SupportCoordinate purchase order closeout activities and related follow-up.Support tracking and measurement of supplier scopes of work, deliverables, and contractual commitments.Coordinate shipping requests and the return of investigational product or other Amgen materials from suppliers.Collect and coordinate information required for applicable business, financial, and information systems.Track requests through completion and follow up with stakeholders to resolve outstanding items.Provide administrative and operational support for requests for information, proposals, quotations, and other RFX activities.Support supplier onboarding, documentation, and operational readiness activities, as assigned.Project and Process ManagementProvide project coordination and process management support for SMPA initiatives.Develop and maintain project plans, action logs, timelines, status updates, and risk and issue trackers.Coordinate activities across R&D functions, supplier governance teams, shared services, testing sites, and supplier organizations.Contribute to departmental and cross-functional initiatives and special projects.Support the development and implementation of process improvements that strengthen supplier oversight, operational efficiency, and data quality.Maintain process documentation, standard work, job aids, and supporting materials.Documentation and Systems ManagementMaintain accurate and compliant supplier documentation in SharePoint, electronic document management systems, and other approved Amgen platforms.Support document collection, organization, retention, and version control.Ensure supplier performance data and supporting records are current, complete, and readily available for review.Provide administrative support for supplier governance and RFX documentation.Assist with the preparation of records and supporting materials for governance reviews, assessments, or audits.Meeting and Stakeholder CoordinationCoordinate functional, cross-functional, and Supplier Functional Management Team meetings.Prepare agendas, presentation materials, action logs, and meeting minutes.Document key decisions, owners, and due dates and monitor actions through closure.Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support timely resolution of operational matters.Build productive working relationships across geographically and functionally diverse teams.Scope and Decision-MakingOperates primarily within established SMPA processes, procedures, and governance frameworks.Independently manages routine assignments and coordinates moderately complex activities with guidance from the manager or functional lead.Exercises sound judgment in prioritizing work, maintaining data integrity, coordinating stakeholders, and escalating supplier risks or performance concerns.Does not have direct people-management responsibility.Recommendations and escalations are reviewed by the Sr. Manager or appropriate supplier governance lead.Key RelationshipsThe Sr. Associate will collaborate documentation, job aids, and standard workClear escalation of supplier performance risks and operational issuesBasic QualificationsOne of the following:Master's degree; or Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant R&D experienceIn addition:Demonstrated project or process management experienceStrong written and verbal communication skills in EnglishProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholdersDemonstrated attention to detail and commitment to data accuracyFoundational knowledge of supplier management, procurement, contracting, or R&D operationsPreferred QualificationsFour or more years of experience in the life sciences industryAt least two years of experience in biopharmaceutical research and developmentExperience supporting supplier performance management, supplier governance, procurement, contracting, or outsourced servicesExperience monitoring key performance indicators, service-level measures, and supplier deliverablesFamiliarity with purchase orders, scopes of work, RFX processes, and supplier documentationKnowledge of Amgen systems and processes relevant to supplier management and performance analyticsExperience with SharePoint, electronic document management systems, reporting tools, or workflow platformsExperience
