Role: Operations Research Scientist (Logistics)Location: Bangalore - INAs part of the Applied Global Services (AGS) network optimization & transportation ops team, your primary role will be to apply supply chain advanced analytics and optimization approaches to solve complicated network problems including distribution network design, transportation mode and routing, hub and spoke designs, routing optimizations, warehousing capacity, and other areas where simulation and modeling can bring significant cost and service improvements. This position will be the subject matter expert in the use of data science, machine learning, and similar advanced optimization techniques in the field of supply chain operations. In this highly visible role, you will collaborate with key functional stakeholders to gain expertise in the technical and functional areas of supply chain optimization.Minimum QualificationsA graduate degree in a quantitative OR operations field such as Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Statistics or related major7-10 years of overall experience in supply chain analytics, logistics, transportation, or related function5+ years of hands-on experience with data modeling using SQL, Python, etc. Solid understanding of statistical modeling techniques such as regression, classification, decision trees, etc5+ years of hands-on experience using optimization or modelling software such as BY TMOD, Llamasoft, Gurobi, CPLEX, or Xpress. Experience with machine learning algorithms such as clustering, classification, reinforcement learning, and experience using OR multi-objective linear programming (LP), mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), and other optimization approachesPreferred QualificationsPhD or MS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent work experienceSAP or similar ERP, WMS software user experience is a plusSemiconductor/Tech industry experience is a plusSpares & Service, aftermarket domain experience is a plusWillingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary to achieve program objectivesKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop and expand the utilization of advanced supply chain analytics techniques and collaborate with stakeholders to solve practical problems in areas such as network design, fulfillment operations, logistics, and planning, etc.As a supply chain optimization practitioner, develop proofs-of-concept and lead continuous improvement projects (CIP) resulting from network analytics to reduce supply chain costs and/or increase service performanceDevelop a good understanding of current transportation network design, planning and fulfillment policies, warehousing and transportation operations for various modes (truckload, LTL, parcel and HWA freight, etc.), other related business processes critical for network optimizationManage the full lifecycle of cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations. Project scope could be moderate to high in complexity and includes processes with outsourced logistics operations providers, freight forwardersDefine the program, set objectives, analyze data, and drive improvements that are quantifiable with business metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT organizations to deploy the improvements. Responsibilities
