Software Development Specialist – AutomationAs a Software Development Specialist, you will design and develop PLC and PC‑based software for custom automated equipment used across Baxter’s global manufacturing sites. Working closely with mechanical and electrical teams, you’ll help turn innovative ideas into reliable machines that support the production of life‑saving products.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:Develop and maintain PLC software (mainly Rockwell & Siemens), SCADA, and customized HMI applications.Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and plant personnel to ensure successful design, integration, and commissioning of automated equipment.Analyze controls data to drive continuous improvement and increase equipment efficiency.Troubleshoot automation issues and propose technical improvements for existing systems.Configure and manage industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, EtherCAT).Support robot‑based systems and integration with peripheral devices.Perform machine start‑up, testing, operator training, and on‑site support.Travel up to 40%, both domestically and internationally.WHAT YOU'LL BRING:Degree in Mechatronics, Electronic, Biomedical, or Automation Engineering.3–5 years of experience in machine controls and PLC programming; experience in healthcare manufacturing is a plus.Strong knowledge of automation principles, servo systems, electrical/pneumatic design, industrial vision systems, and robot software (Staubli, ABB, Fanuc).Familiarity with ISO/ANSI/GAMP5 standards and CFR21 Part 11.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.English B2 minimum; Italian required for the Campo site.Equal Employment OpportunityBaxter is an equal opportunity employer.
