Data and analytics are critical to managing cost, service, and network performance at this scale.We are looking for an Analytics Engineer – Transportation & Analytics to strengthen our analytics team in Grimbergen (near Brussels). You will work at the intersection of data, operations, and decision‑making, supporting European ground transportation for Caterpillar’s factories and supply base.This is a hands‑on role with real ownership. You will build and run analytics products end‑to‑end: from shaping requirements with the business, to modelling data, to delivering Power BI dashboards and automations that are used in day‑to‑day operations.If you enjoy working with large, well‑structured operational datasets, selecting the right data for the right question, and automating manual work, this role is for you.What you will doBuild, own, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards used by Transportation, Finance, and Supply Chain teamsTranslate business problems into clear requirements, measures, and data model designWork with (and sometimes extend) data models and datasets; partner closely with data engineers on pipelines and source logicUse SQL and Python to validate data, implement transformations, and create reliable, repeatable outputsIdentify cost opportunities, service issues, and data quality gaps in transportation flows and turn them into actionable recommendationsAutomate recurring work with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps)Improve the way we work by simplifying, standardizing, and removing waste (not “build and forget” reporting)Share best practices and help raise the analytics maturity of the teamWhat you bringMust‑haveMaster’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative or technical field3–5 years of experience in analytics, BI, or data rolesStrong hands‑on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)Strong skills in SQL and solid working knowledge of PythonExperience with data modelling, transformations, and structured datasetsComfort working end‑to‑end: ambiguity → structure → delivery → continuous improvementClear communication in English and ability to work directly with business stakeholdersNice to have (not mandatory)Exposure to transportation, supply chain, finance, or purchasingExperience with Snowflake, Oracle, Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data platformsFamiliarity with process improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence)Interest or experience in AI and Copilot‑style tools (prompting, automation, decision support).
