Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.As a Manager Facilities Engineering for Global Facilities, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, reliability, operation, and maintenance of critical site infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and environmental systems that support campus-wide manufacturing and business operations.This role leads capital planning and project execution, utility management, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and site services while ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of electrical distribution, compressed air, fire protection, water, wastewater, levee, and drainage systems.The position serves as a key liaison with internal business units, external utilities, regulatory agencies, contractors, and local government entities to protect operational continuity, mitigate risk, and support long-term business objectives. This position also represents Caterpillar interests in the local community, serving as a Commissioner for the East Peoria Drainage and Levee District.What You Will DoDevelop and execute multi-year capital plans and infrastructure investment strategies that improve asset reliability, reduce operational risk, enhance safety, and support business objectives across multiple business units.Lead the operation, maintenance, and reliability of campus-wide utility and infrastructure systems, including electrical distribution, substations, backup power generation, compressed air, fire protection, water distribution, wastewater treatment, levee protection, and drainage systems.Maintain accountability for utility metering, consumption reporting, cost allocation, and spend management while providing transparent utility usage and cost data to business stakeholders.Direct maintenance and lifecycle management of critical facilities and site infrastructure, including buildings, roads, fencing, access control systems, and other assets essential to safe and efficient operations.Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, safety, regulatory, and inspection requirements, including wastewater operations, pressure vessels, backflow prevention systems, and other regulated infrastructure.Manage site support services and emergency preparedness activities, including snow removal, winter readiness, pest control, janitorial services, flood response, and business continuity planning.Serve as the Commissioner for the East Peoria Drainage and Levee District, representing Caterpillar’s interests in maintaining the levee and protecting our facilities and the surrounding community.Lead contractor, vendor, and external stakeholder relationships, coordinating with utility providers, regulatory agencies, municipal authorities, and service providers to ensure reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective service delivery.What You HaveExperience:A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM discipline AND 5 years of experience in facilities management.Proven track record of developing and implementing capital projects.Experience leading a team of technical professionals.Process Management:Knowledge of business process improvement tools & techniques with the ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.Ability to scope and present business cases for new processes or process improvements, including cost-benefit analysis and risk assessments.Service Excellence:Deep understanding of customer service with the ability to meet/exceed customer needs & expectations by providing services in a direct or indirect manner.Sense of urgency in response to unexpected customer requests while providing a quality of service that customers describe as excellent.Cross-Team Integration:Ability to lead employees from various functions to communicated, coordinated work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and leverage networks and contacts to improve collaboration among teams.Project Management:Deep understanding of effective project management strategies with the ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects.Excellent resource management skills, including the ability to plan, estimate, staff, and execute projects.Effective and regular communication of risks, vulnerabilities, and contingency plans to project team, leadership, and stakeholders.Facilities & Emergency Management:Knowledge of safety measures for physical facilities; ability to maintain, care for and develop commercial and physical facilities.Professional approach to customer and vendor interactions with specific skills around resolving problems and ensuring customer satisfaction.Ability to apply emergency management tools and techniques to prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from an emergency.Strategic & Analytical Skills:Expertise in problem-solving, decision-making, and overcoming resistance to change in complex environments.Strong analytical skills to interpret performance metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.Troubleshooting Technical Problems:Ability to anticipate, detect, isolate, and resolve technical problems in an office environment.Effective evaluation of risk, criticality, business impact, and urgency of technical problems and proficiency in resolution plan development and execution.What Will Set You ApartTop candidates will also have:A master’s degree in engineering, business, or another related field.A Professional Engineer (PE) license.Experience managing facilities operations for a large manufacturing campus.Additional Information: Location: East Peoria, ILThis position requires working onsite five days a week.
