The Impact you will have in this role: The Systems Engineering family is responsible for the entire technical effort to evolve and verify solutions that satisfy client needs. The primary focus is centered on reducing risk and improving the efficiency, performance, stability, security, and quality of all systems and platforms. The File Transfer Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of file transfer platforms that support secure, reliable, and high volume data movement between internal systems and external clients. The role is critical to ensuring platform resiliency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across managed file transfer services.This position works closely with application teams, infrastructure partners, security, and external clients to enable secure integrations, support onboarding, and maintain production stability for mission-critical data exchanges. Your Primary Responsibilities:Platform Engineering & OperationsImplement, operate, and support managed file transfer platforms, including IBM Connect:Direct (NDM), IBM DataPower (SFTP) and AWS Transfer Family for internal and external connectivityMonitor file transfer workflows to ensure high availability, throughput, and transaction success ratesTroubleshoot production issues Participate in on-call rotations and support incident response for Tier-0 / Tier-1 platforms.Client & Application SupportSupport client and application onboarding activities by providing secure connectivity patterns, testing support, and production readiness validationPartner with internal application teams and external clients to diagnose issues, optimize configurations, and resolve integration challengesMaintain strong service reliability and operational SLAs for critical business workflows.Security, Compliance & Audit Enforce secure file transfer standards including encryption in transit, strong authentication, key management, and least-privilege accessSupport audit and regulatory compliance efforts by maintaining enforceable controls, evidentiary artifacts, and documented operational proceduresCollaborate with security and technology risk teams on reviews, remediation efforts, and control enhancements.Lifecycle Management & ResiliencyExecute platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching and decommissioning of end-of-life componentsContribute to disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and resiliency improvements to meet defined RTO/RPO objectivesDrive modernization initiatives focused on automation, cloud integration, and improved observability. Automation & Operational ExcellenceDevelop and maintain automation for onboarding, configuration management, monitoring, and compliance reportingImprove operational processes by reducing manual effort, improving MTTR, and increasing platform transparencyMaintain and enhance technical documentation, runbooks, and standardized onboarding patterns. Qualifications:Minimum of 6 years of related experienceBachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experienceTalents Needed for Success:• Strong experience with managed file transfer technologies such as:IBM Connect:Direct (NDM)IBM DataPower (SFTP gateways)AWS Transfer Family• Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical production platforms• Familiarity with Linux platforms, scripting, and operational tooling for troubleshooting and automation Professional Skills• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex, multi-system issues• Ability to collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, security, and external client teams• Experience working in regulated environments with strict audit, risk, and compliance requirements• Clear communication skills and ability to document operational and technical processes • Experience with cloud-integrated file transfer patterns• Exposure to automation tools (e.g., Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code concepts)• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, or SIEM integrations• Experience supporting disaster recovery and resiliency testing initiatives Actual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
