This position interfaces closely with site system, component, and thermal performance engineers to drive equipment reliability.This is a hybrid position with work split between in the office and remote. The primary location for this position can be located at any of the 6 Duke Nuclear sites or at the corporate office.ResponsibilitiesCompletes daily monitoring of mechanical and electrical systems and components through various software platforms. Maintains continuous online monitoring software models for nuclear plant assets.Works on cross-functional teams to support problem solving activities, innovation, and automation projects.Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees.Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.Basic / Required Qualifications Nuclear Engineer IBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.A master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering0-2 years of engineering experience“Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy”Nuclear Engineer IIBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.2-4 years of engineering experience.Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.Preferred QualificationsBasic knowledge of thermal performance monitoring at large power generating stationsBasic knowledge of Information Technology, database applications, and analytics.Basic knowledge of vibration analysis, turbomachinery, and thermal hydraulicsBasic knowledge of instrumentation, measurement, and measurement uncertainty.Good written and oral communication skills.Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.Understanding of basic principles of project management.Experience in the utility industry.Specific RequirementsIn lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified. Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed.Office and plant environments.Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.Occasional overnight travel.Working ConditionsTypically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.Travel Requirements5-15%Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable)YesRepresented/Union PositionNoVisa Sponsored PositionNo. This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
