This job is not part of standard progression. The job requires a business case justification substantiating the necessity of a Lead role in conjunction with the enterprise Professional titling guidelines.Lead Engineering technologists provide technical expertise to solve complex problems and utilize the leadership skills necessary to oversee the training and development of the hierarchy. Incumbents engage in strategic oversight and management of work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to have advanced skills and can work independently. This position will support Marshall Steam Station as the Electrical System Owner.ResponsibilitiesServing as the site subject matter expert for electrical systems.Monitoring and trending system/component performance.Directing onsite testing and troubleshooting activities for emergent issues.Evaluating preventative maintenance (PM) program performance and recommending performance-based adjustments.Ensuring regulatory compliance is maintainedInterface with operations & maintenance, assisting with any other electrical/control system challenges and needsCoordinating cross functionally with other departments (such as Regional Engineering, Transmission, Maintenance & Operations) to ensure system concerns, schedules, budgeting, and related issues are properly addressed.Maintain plant risk grid for system/equipment responsibilitiesInterfacing with external vendors to ensure technical issues are properly resolved.Evaluates Fleet Operating Experience and industry learnings to improve Equipment Reliability.Support project management by developing the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to AC power systems, DC power systems, Large AC motors, Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, Voltage Regulators, Breakers, etc.Manage any external control system vendor support as a single point of contact (SPOC)Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.Serve as station PTACRequired/Basic Qualifications Associate’s degree in engineering technology8 years related work experienceIn lieu of associate’s degree(s) AND 8 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 year(s) related work experienceWork ConditionsOnsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering technologyIn addition to desired degree, 8 years related work experienceAdditional Preferred QualificationsGood written and oral communication skills.Demonstrates skills applying leadership in the areas of technical project management, program oversight and/or governance.Proficient in engineering theories and principlesProficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations,Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.Experience in the utility industryAbility to apply basic principles of project management.Ability to use Power Plan to build and process projectsAbility to use Maximo to write WOs to repair equipment, order parts, or order Services to come and make repairs at the site.Specific RequirementsEither 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 10+ years equivalent experience without a degreePreferred SkillsCommunication, Control Equipment, Cybersecurity, Electrical Equipment, Electrical Power Distribution, ElectricalTravel Requirements5-15%Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable)YesRepresented/Union PositionNoVisa Sponsored PositionNo. This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
