In the role of Principal Engineer, AI/ML, you will serve as the regional technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading strategic AI and Generative AI initiatives and partnering with business SMEs to drive solution design and development in collaboration with peers and external vendors.How you’ll make an impact: Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions at scale to address complex business problems in partnership with business SMEs, product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams. Accountable for successful completion within project scope and deliverablesDetermine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutionsBuild and maintain robust data pipelines for training, testing, and evaluating various Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or traditional machine learning models, and engineer solutions using appropriate AI/ML frameworks and librariesStay current with the latest GenAI and traditional AI/ML research and industry trends, incorporating relevant advancements into product offeringsImprove and optimize model performance, ensuring robustness, scalability, and efficiencyProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and data scientistsEnsure code and model development are well-documented and adhere to EW engineering practicesPerform incidental general and administrative tasks as required.What you’ll need (Required): Bachelor’s DegreeMinimum of 6 years of experience in Software Development or Engineering, demonstrating solid performance in cross‑functional roles (within IT and/or the business) delivering enterprise‑level or complex/novel system implementations.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similarExperience with deploying AI/ML models to production systemsExperience with AWS or Cloud Infrastructure ServicesExperience with ML frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn or similar frameworksSolid experience with deep learning techniques (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, GANs, etc.)Solid experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologiesExperience and training in the specific technologies that will be used for development What else we look for (Preferred): Extensive troubleshooting/debugging skillsExcellent analytical, detail-oriented, organized and information seeking skillsExcellent organization and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectivesAbility to manage multiple tasks and work towards long-term goalsStrict attention to detailAbility to interact professionally with all organizational levelsAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentWhat is it like to work at Edwards Lifesciences in the Czech Republic?
