This role is critical in protecting company assets while supporting sales growth and optimizing return on receivables.The Credit Manager manages daily credit and collection activities in alignment with company policy and assigned authority, balancing risk management with customer support to drive profitable growth and minimize exposure.This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts receivable of up to 400 million requiring strong financial judgment and business partnership.This position is based in Texas, supporting a multi-state territory of the Mid-South US.Regular overnight travel within the territory is required. Business travel expenses are fully reimbursed. ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and approve credit applications, limits, and account changes based on risk analysisMonitor customer balances and aging; take action on delinquent accountsDevelop and execute effective collection strategiesReview and manage credit limits and lien rights to protect company interestsResolve disputes in partnership with sales and customersManage bad debt exposure, including recovery efforts and legal escalation when necessaryEnsure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., UCC, FDCPA, ECOA, liens, bonds, Sarbanes-Oxley)Partner with sales teams through regular branch interaction and customer visitsStructure credit solutions (e.g., joint check agreements) for project-based accountsHandle complex, high-risk, or exception accounts beyond standard authorityLead, coach, and develop credit team membersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance or related field preferredCredit, Collections, or Accounts Receivable experience (construction industry preferred)Strong analytical and decision-making skills with sound business judgmentExcellent communication and relationship-building abilitiesAbility to manage priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environmentLeadership or team development experience preferredSales process understandingCredit evaluation and portfolio managementFinancial Statement AnalysisCollections strategy and executionCustomer and branch relationship managementSecondary security conceptsUniform Commercial Code (UCC) fundamentalsEnterprise and vendor systems proficiencyAt Ferguson, we care for each other. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field preferred (degree in finance or related field preferred)
  • Credit, Collections, or Accounts Receivable experience (construction industry preferred) (experience)

Responsibilities
