About the roleAs the Director of Engineering, you will oversee a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees. You will also have responsibility in all aspects of hotel facility and building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating, and respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.What you will doEngineering Operations & MaintenanceOversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, including maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of all hotel facilities, guestrooms, and public areasDevelop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and ensure asset longevityEstablish and manage an effective work-order system to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance requestsEnsure all engineering services effectively support both guest satisfaction and operational needsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop the engineering team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellenceConduct regular training, safety briefings, and performance management activitiesPromote clear communication and collaboration within the team and across departmentsProject Management & Capital PlanningPlan, manage, and execute capital improvement projects, renovations, and building upgradesEnsure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standardsCoordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless executionApply structured project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocationMaintain accurate project documentation and completion recordsFinancial & Budget ManagementPrepare and manage the engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective operationsMonitor expenditures and identify opportunities to optimise costs without compromising qualitySupport procurement planning, including sourcing of materials, parts, and servicesCompliance, Safety & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all local regulations, environmental standards, and corporate policiesConduct regular safety inspections and ensure all engineering practices meet required standardsPromote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to safety procedures at all timesSustainability & Continuous ImprovementDrive energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs across the propertyIdentify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and engineering performanceAnalyse technical issues and implement effective, timely solutionsCollaboration & Stakeholder ManagementWork closely with operational departments (e.g., Housekeeping, Front Office) to ensure seamless hotel operationsPartner with senior management to align engineering priorities with overall business objectivesCollaborate with the Onsite Manager to coordinate daily maintenance and grounds upkeepAdditional ResponsibilitiesEnsure all engineering methods, materials, and practices comply with local regulations and corporate standardsMaintain professional communication with guests, team members, and external partnersPerform all duties in alignment with company standards and operational expectationsWhat you bringMinimum of 10 years as engineering professional in hospitality, service or luxury industryA university degree or equivalent experienceProject management experiencePre-opening and renovation experience in hotels/resorts in Asia preferable.Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify pattern in data to make recommendations in an environment with competing demandsStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and JapaneseProactive, hands on and able to operate autonomously
