Job Description SummaryGE Aerospace is seeking a Lead Mechanical Test Engineer to join our team in Loves Park, Illinois. In this full-time, onsite role, you will help design and develop high-reliability aerospace products that support critical aircraft systems. Working as part of an Integrated Product Team, you will lead engineering efforts across the full product lifecycle, including bid and proposal support, technology maturation, new product introduction, production, and test.This position focuses on advanced aerospace electromechanical and pneumatic products, including bleed air valves and linear actuators. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to lead design, analysis, testing, and cross-functional problem-solving efforts in a collaborative environment.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesLead the design, analysis, development, and testing of aerospace electromechanical and pneumatic products, including bleed air valves and linear actuators.Execute engineering work in accordance with sound engineering principles, program requirements, and business standards, practices, and procedures.Support products and programs across multiple phases, including bid and proposal, technology maturation, new product introduction, production, and test.Drive technical execution for assigned projects, including design reviews, risk reduction activities, and validation efforts.Provide technical leadership in new product development and technology maturation initiatives.Guide and support other technical team members while contributing as a key member of an Integrated Product Team.Apply analytical thinking and engineering expertise to solve product and system-level problems.Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.Recommend and develop solutions outside of established parameters when needed, using sound judgment and prior experience.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience; OR Associate degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience; OR High school diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of professional experienceDesired QualificationsExperience in the design, analysis, or support of electromechanical and/or pneumatic systemsExperience leading projects or providing technical direction to engineering team membersExperience with electromechanical actuators, pneumatic valves, or similar aerospace/mechanical systemsDemonstrated experience with electric motors, RVDTs, resolvers, and related electrical componentsProficiency in CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks and/or NXProficiency in LabView programming and utilizing LabView for test dataFamiliarity with DO-160 testing, FAR 25/FAR 33 certification, and aerospace development processesKnowledge of AS9100 quality standardsFamiliarity with Lean principles and methodologiesStrong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teamsSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environmentThe base pay range for this position is $95,000 – $127,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. Required Qualifications
