Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionMachinist 3rd Shift - TDIWorking at our Dayton site:TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is a part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.Role Overview:Operate more than one machine at a timeUnderstand coolant percentage mixtures Basic housekeeping of cell (5S)Uses gages (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, depth gages, bore gages, etc.), pneumatic tools, and hand tools to perform and inspect workUnderstand and use tool data (offsets, wear, etc.) to insure acceptable parts Review, understand and follow routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness to perform operations Utilize geometric tolerancing Fully understands blueprints Read and understand inspection sheets Produce error free products through in-process inspections Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a Team environment Will also perform other duties as assignedProgram management in DNC system Change tooling Identify and use inserts Set up and calibrate inspection devices/gages (I.E. bore gages, bar gages, and height gages) Strong attention to detailCompliance with and supports all GE policies and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guideExcellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendorsWorks collaboratively and respects all othersRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or General education Degree (GED)6 months of CNC Lathe and CNC Mill Experience OR any technical schooling in Machining with CNC Lathe/Mill experienceThis role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.Preferred Qualifications:Prior machining experiencePrior production experienceAbility/prior experience reading blueprintsAbility/prior experience reading routers and part numbersAbility/prior experience using work instructionsKnowledge of documenting and scrapping hardwareMust be able to read and understand specifications, be able to analyze and interpret technical procedures, blueprints and written instructions. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practice situations. Basic computer skills.Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Additional Information:While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day.Must be able to work with upper body extremities.Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds on occasion. Items more than 35 pounds will be lifted with assistance.While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving high speed machinery and/or mechanical parts. Employee will be required to use approved chemicals and may be exposed to dust, fumes, or smoke from normal machining operations. (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some areas require hearing protection when noise intensity is over 85 dB.
