Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job DescriptionThe Engineering Technician's primary duty is to meet production objectives by conducting special test processes of electronic devices. Responsibilities include administering functional tests along with troubleshooting at a system level down to the component level and maintaining records of the mentioned special test processes. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step-by-step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.Ideal for transitioning military talent with electronics test, diagnostics, avionics, or communications maintenance experience who are comfortable following technical procedures, using sophisticated test equipment, troubleshooting to the component level, and documenting results in quality systems.Roles and Responsibilities:Perform special test following test specifications and procedures for high volume manufacturingSet up and perform test with minimal direction using sophisticated equipment - perform analyses and diagnostics of process, products, computers, and test equipment used in systems verificationTroubleshoot electronics systems, circuit card assemblies to component level with analog, digital, and microprocessor-based circuits, assemblies, and test equipmentCapability in the assembly/dis-assembly of test equipment and productPrescribe rework instructions for products needing repairMaintain product test records in quality data tracking systemEnsure product compliance and qualityAttend and participate in team meetingsBasic Qualifications:Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military serviceAssociate's degree in an electronics technology discipline from an accredited university or college (or High School diploma / GED with at least two years of experience in Testing and/or Troubleshooting)Active security clearanceDesired Characteristics:Experience in high volume production environmentExperience troubleshooting analog and digital circuitsExperienced with general purpose test instruments (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, phase angle voltmeters and automated test equipment)Able to fault isolate electronics to the component levelExperienced in functional testing and environmental stress screening of class 3 electronics systemsAble to follow technical procedures and specificationsAble to read and understand technical documentation such as schematic diagrams, drawings, and parts listsExperience using hand tools for electronics disassembly and troubleshootingKnowledge of IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 soldering specificationsBasic understanding of embedded softwareFamiliar with Electric Static Discharge precautionsAbility to work under minimum supervision by being motivated and a self-starterKeen attention to detailProficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and PDF ViewersThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Responsibilities

  • Capability in the assembly/dis-assembly of test equipment and product
  • Prescribe rework instructions for products needing repair
  • Maintain product test records in quality data tracking system
  • Ensure product compliance and quality
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
