Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesJob Tasks May Include:Set up and operate a range of manufacturing/fabrication-related tools and equipment, including assembly fixtures, orbital welder, forming, cutting, cleaning, brazing, marking, etc. to produce hardware that meets close tolerance requirementsUtilize a variety of precision gauges, inspection measuring tools, and fixtures to conduct both mechanical and visual inspections of products and hardwareIdentify and manage the processing of quality-related nonconforming and noncompliant products and materials, including the Preliminary Review quality processFoster a collaborative work environment by actively participating in cross-training initiatives and promoting teamwork to enhance overall team performance and flexibilityPerforming related environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, continuous improvement, and production-flow job duties to support plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing-related initiatives and programsStrong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all operationsAttend shift crossover and other business required meetings when applicableParticipate in training duties as requiredMinimum QualificationsActive Military personnel on their last 180 days before separating from Military ServiceHigh School diploma/GED with a minimum of 6 months of experience in a technically related field such as manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical engineering; ORAssociates Degree or Bachelors Degree in a technically related field such as manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical engineeringDesirable QualificationsPossess a technical certification in a relevant field (i.e. aerospace engineering, mechanical systems, etc.) that demonstrated specialized knowledge and proficiency in industry-standard tools, technologies or methodologies.Set up, operate and maintain machine, manufacturing, and fabrication tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. This includes calibrating machinery, troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance and adhering to safety and quality standards to support production goalsPerforming essential mathematical calculations to ensure accurate measurements and alignments, utilizing precision gauges, fixtures, and inspection measuring equipment to verify tolerances and dimensionsInterpreting blueprints, detailed sketches, engineering specifications, and technical drawings to analyze requirements, determine appropriate setups, and plan operations necessary for completing job tasks with precision and efficiencyKnowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologiesExhibits excellent communication skills to facilitate teamwork, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment on production needsShow capability in adhering to guidance and supervision, following work rules, safety practices and procedures, while meeting deadlines and maintaining punctuality and attendance standardsThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in a technically related field such as manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical engineering (degree in bachelors degree in a technically related field such as manufacturing)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a technical certification in a relevant field (i.e. aerospace engineering, mechanical systems, etc.) that demonstrated specialized knowledge and proficiency in industry-standard tools, technologies or methodologies. (certification)

  • Interpreting blueprints, detailed sketches, engineering specifications, and technical drawings to analyze requirements, determine appropriate setups, and plan operations necessary for completing job tasks with precision and efficiency (experience)
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies (experience)
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills to facilitate teamwork, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment on production needs (experience)
