Job Description SummaryThe “Technical Manager – Civil Platforms” will lead a team in the Civil Platforms (CP) engineering organization, supporting the business and Application Engineering teams in defining a strategy for growth, driving initiatives to continuously improve performance and processes, executing successfully on projects to bring value for the company and our customers, and achieving key functional, business, and broad company objectives. This is a People Leader role for a team of roughly 6-10 Systems Engineers (SEs) that will require a talented individual to use their experience, knowledge, influence, and initiative to set strategy, manage team competency development, and drive engineering execution excellence. The position spans Civil Platforms products and projects and includes interfaces with numerous outside organizations. The role will report directly to the Civil Platforms Engineering Leader with moderate autonomy and require high levels of operational judgment.Job DescriptionMore specifically, the individual will:hold responsibility for delivering engineering excellence to effectively perform bids and proposals, manage projects, execute development strategies, and conduct accurate engineering forecasts for Civil Platform Productssupport and conduct strategic resource planning, then build an inclusive, highly technical, and high-performing team through recruitment and competency development, guide them through hard times, and celebrate their successesmanage department sub-section to achieve functional, business, and broad company objectives including engineering planning and budgeting, competency development, culture development, process improvement and execution excellencecreate and execute structured development plans customized for individual team members, including holding the team accountable for supporting development of others within the organizationset clear expectations for individual and team performance and manage/improve performance using controlled metrics and a continuous improvement mindsetfoster a culture of collaboration, clear communication, lean, and accountability through leading, motivating, and inspiring othersdevelop engineering competency that delivers results compliant with engineering processes and customer contractual requirementsallocate qualified engineering talent and manage outsource activities to satisfy project demands both for Computing Product projects and other projects requiring the skillsetsupport reporting and escalation rhythms using Lean methodologies with clear communication and firm understanding of status, active ownership and management to resolve issues, and a focus on continuous improvementprovide technical expertise and leadership for the pursuit of new business, the execution of existing business (NPI and IR&D), and the continuous improvement of project management and systems engineering processes, tools, and talentdrive effective startup of new projects, focusing on strategic planning, standardization, reporting/monitoring expectation setting, and One Team collaborationdemonstrate superior technical expertise to translate highly technical engineering concepts into workable solutions, leveraging engineering and product reusedemonstrate strong project management expertise to establish project teams, conduct project planning, manage and monitor project execution, and perform active risk managementhold project teams accountable to deliver quantifiable results against Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) expectations using Lean Methodologiesdevelop influential university or collegeMinimum of 8 years of systems technical and project leadership experience in a highly technical engineering field, preferably avionics systemsAbility to travel up to 10%This - $173,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
