With more than 35 years of experience providing pathology services across HCA Healthcare UK, HCA Laboratories supports acute hospital services, IVF clinics, healthcare screening programmes, insurance services and GP referrals. Our laboratories cover a broad range of specialist disciplines and are equipped with advanced analytical technology, giving colleagues the opportunity to work with complex and varied casework while contributing to high quality patient care. As part of a growing service, you’ll join a collaborative team committed to excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you’ll play an important role in delivering a high quality histopathology service that supports timely diagnosis and patient treatment. Working closely with Advanced Biomedical Scientists, Section Heads and Consultant Pathologists, you’ll contribute to both the day to day running of the laboratory and the continued development of the service. This role offers exposure across multiple areas of Histology, including embedding, microtomy, special stains and frozen section techniques, allowing you to broaden your technical expertise while developing your career within a highly respected pathology network. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.What you’ll do:Deliver accurate and timely Histology laboratory services in line with departmental policies, SOPs and quality standardsPerform a range of routine and complex Histology techniques including embedding, microtomy, special stains and frozen section preparationSupport the day to day organisation of the Histopathology department and contribute to service development initiativesMaintain compliance with HCPC, IBMS, ISO 15189 and UKAS accreditation requirementsAssist with training and supporting new colleagues while promoting effective teamwork across the laboratoryWhat you’ll bring:Degree in Biomedical Science or a related scientific disciplineHCPC registration as a Biomedical ScientistExperience working within a UK Histology laboratory at Band 5 or equivalent levelMembership of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)Strong practical experience across core Histology techniques and laboratory processesWhy HCA UK?Originally founded over 50 years ago by Dr Thomas Frist, HCA has gone on to become one of the world’s leading healthcare providers.
