Job Description

Title:Accountant, US Federal/State TaxKBR is seeking a Tax Accountant to join the U.S. Federal and State Income Tax team based in Chennai, India. This role supports U.S. income tax accounting and compliance activities, including tax provision calculations under ASC 740, tax reporting, return preparation, and tax analysis. Working closely with the U.S.-based tax team, the Tax Accountant will contribute to federal, state, and international tax compliance processes, support quarterly and annual tax reporting requirements, and help drive process improvements within a multinational tax environment.Trinzic is being established as an independent public company through the planned separation of KBR's Mission Technology Solutions business, which is expected to be completed on January 4, 2027. This role offers a rare opportunity to join the organization during a pivotal period of growth and transformation, helping support global tax compliance, reporting, and advisory activities that contribute to critical government and commercial missions around the world.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740 requirements.Analyze and reconcile deferred tax balances and support U.S. income tax accounting activities.Research tax accounting and compliance matters and assist in resolving technical tax issues.Support quarterly tax forecasts, tax projections, and estimated tax payment calculations.Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accurate tax reporting and financial statement presentation.Prepare U.S. federal corporate and partnership income tax returns and related supporting schedules.Support U.S. state income and franchise tax compliance activities, including consolidated, combined, nexus, and separate company filings.Assist with U.S. international tax reporting and transfer pricing support activities.Partner with U.S.-based tax, finance, and accounting teams to support tax reporting and financial close processes.Identify and support process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the tax function.Basic QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.2+ years of experience in corporate income tax, tax accounting, tax compliance, or a related tax function.Technical & Professional SkillsBasic understanding of U.S. income tax accounting and compliance principles.Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.Effective written and verbal English communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting U.S. federal, state, or local income tax compliance activities.Experience with OneSource Income Tax (OIT), OneSource Tax Provision (OTP), or similar tax software.Experience with enterprise financial systems such as, Deltek Costpoint, or Hyperion.
