Title:Principal Electrical EngineerWe are seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services team. In this role, you will lead and deliver electrical engineering studies, designs, and specifications across a diverse range of infrastructure and building projects. You will work with minimal supervision, provide high-level technical consultancy, guide junior engineers, and manage projects and proposals as a true “seller/doer.”This position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and requires strong design expertise across electrical services for new construction, upgrades, and modifications including LV/HV power distribution, lighting, security systems, ICT infrastructure, and renewable energy integration.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & DesignLead, contribute to, and perform electrical engineering studies and detailed designs for buildings and infrastructure projects.Deliver electrical services designs including internal/external lighting, LV distribution and reticulation, passive ICT infrastructure, security systems, backup power systems, and solar PV integration.Prepare, verify, and self-check electrical design calculations using both manual and software assisted methods.Guide designers and drafters in the preparation of drawings; review and approve documentation.Prepare and review reports, technical specifications, and project documentation.Project & Stakeholder ManagementLead project teams to deliver major electrical work packages on large multidisciplinary projects.Manage small to medium multidisciplinary building services projects end-to-end.Liaise confidently with clients, statutory authorities, and external consultants to negotiate critical technical issues.Support proposal preparation, project budgeting, and delivery to quality, cost, and time requirements.Build and maintain a network of client contacts; participate in business development and marketing activities.Team Mentoring & CollaborationProvide technical assistance, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.Work collaboratively with mechanical, structural, hydraulic, civil, and other building services teams to deliver integrated solutions.Qualifications & SkillsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).Chartered Engineer / CPEng / RPEQ registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months.10+ years’ experience as an electrical engineer within the built environment or infrastructure sectors.Demonstrated practical and theoretical expertise in electrical engineering.Proven experience in commercial or consulting environments.Strong skills in concept and detailed design across a broad range of electrical systems.Ability to manage and deliver complex projects with multidisciplinary teams.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical content fluently.Highly RegardedExperience leading large Defence DSC electrical projects.Exposure to business development, proposal writing, and marketing activities.Strong background in project and design management, including budget management.https://kbr.foleon.com/is-australia/who-we-are/who-we-areAt KBR, we value you – here’s how.While our people are busy delivering leading science, technology, and engineering solutions, we’re committed to providing them with a supportive, trusting environment and benefits that enable them to thrive and continue doing what they do best.Benefits include:Industry leading salaries reviewed annually.20 Days of annual leave per year + the ability to accrue an additional 8 hours every 4 weeks (33 days in total)Flexible work arrangements (start/finish times, WFH, Flex time)Salary packaging and novated leasesPaid professional membership feesLife/Health insurance discountsEmployee stock purchase plansPersonal career development plansGrowth and promotion opportunitiesGreat office environment with fantastic facilitiesAccess to health benefits programsHelp shape tomorrow by applying today!Our people are the heart of everything we do.
