Job Description

Title:Principal Process EngineerPosition DescriptionResponsible for the study, design, and specification of equipment, piping and instrumentation related to processing plants such as oil and gas production, organic chemicals and refined products. Projects within SKLLC vary from small studies through to large EPC projects.The position is based at SKLLC office, Crescent Business Centre, 26th floor.Job Responsibilities:Working as part of a team under the supervision of the lead engineer you will be expected to contribute to and assist in the production of the following:Development of process simulations to produce heat and material balances,development of process and utility flow diagrams,development of piping and instrument diagrams,producing calculations for the design or rating of equipment and apparatus such as heat exchangers, vessels, reactors, etc. and to develop system design parameters.preparing process hydraulic calculations for pump and line sizingspecifying piping and instrument data to support downstream disciplinesdeveloping concepts from client specificationssupporting and producing technical and techno-economic studiesleading a team either within a large project or for smaller projectsMay also be responsible for the development of advanced controls/process optimizationSkills / Experience: EssentialExperience leading a team of up to 10 process engineers.Understanding of requirements of other disciplines as part of project execution.Clear understanding of complex equipment sizing calculations and have experience specifying equipmentUnderstanding of complex relief valve sizing cases and preparation of calculationsExperience of vessel and exchanger specification and sizingExperience taking a leading role in a safety review (HazOp/SIL/LOPA)Experience of developing hydraulic calculations for complex circuitsExperience within working in a multi-discipline team and across different offices.Understanding of process control and development of cause and effect diagramsExperience of writing technical reports.Self-motivated and a good communication skills to enable effective team working.Flexibility to work across a number of different technologies.Understanding of workhour control and working to schedule and within budget.Good organizational skillsGood understanding of quality requirements.DesirableAbility to build simulation models in Hysys/Promax or similar simulation tool for complex simulationsExperience of working on conceptual studiesDeveloping presentations and experience communicating with client teamExperience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training schemeUnderstanding of development of proposals for new projectsExperience using COMOSQualifications:BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent10+ years experience working with a major EPC contractor or operator.

  • 10+ years experience working with a major EPC contractor or operator. (experience, 10 years)

  • Ability to build simulation models in Hysys/Promax or similar simulation tool for complex simulations (experience)
  • Experience of working on conceptual studies (experience)
  • Developing presentations and experience communicating with client team (experience)
  • Experience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training scheme (experience)
  • Understanding of development of proposals for new projects (experience)
  • Experience using COMOS (experience)
