About the Role The Senior Quantity Surveyor supports construction project delivery by monitoring progress through the measurement and evaluation of installed quantities against approved plans and baselines. The role integrates quantity tracking, forecasting, and estimate loading with cost and performance metrics, contributing to value engineering, cost-benefit analysis, and feasibility assessments across labour, materials, and execution strategies. Working under general direction, the position applies specialised project controls knowledge to interpret complex issues, maintain accurate MTO data from IFC drawings, and support informed decision-making. The role also provides guidance to less experienced team members while ensuring delivery is aligned with organisational policies, procedures, and business objectives.ResponsibilitiesMonitor construction progress through detailed measurement and evaluation of installed quantities against approved plans and baseline estimatesMaintain and update quantity take-offs and material take-offs (MTOs) based on Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings to support accurate progress trackingDevelop and maintain forecasting models, including estimate loading and cost projections aligned with project schedules and delivery milestonesPerform cost-benefit analysis, value engineering assessments, and feasibility studies to optimise labour, materials, and execution strategiesAnalyse variances between planned and actual quantities and provide insights to support corrective actions and commercial decisionsContribute to project controls reporting by integrating quantity, cost, and progress data into standard reporting deliverablesInterpret internal and external project issues, applying technical expertise to develop practical solutions and best practicesCoordinate with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, planning, and commercial teams to ensure data consistency and alignmentProvide guidance to less experienced team members and support prioritisation of workload across project deliverablesSupport compliance with company policies, procedures, and project governance frameworks in all quantity surveying activitiesExperience Required EssentialPrevious experience in quantity surveying within construction, EPC, or infrastructure projectsProven experience with quantity tracking, measurement, and progress reporting on large-scale projectsExperience developing forecasts, cost estimates, and project controls reportingExperience interpreting and working from Issued for Construction (IFC) drawingsExperience in value engineering and cost analysis within project delivery environmentsDesirableExperience working within integrated project controls environmentsKnowledge of earned value management and cost control methodologiesExperience mentoring or leading junior quantity surveying staffExperience working on multi-discipline or complex capital projectsTechnical Skills/KnowledgeQuantity tracking and installed quantity measurement on construction projectsMaterial Take-Off (MTO) development and updating from IFC drawingsCost forecasting and estimate loading within project controls environmentsProgress measurement methodologies (e.g. earned value, quantity-based tracking)Cost benefit analysis and commercial performance evaluationValue engineering and feasibility study execution across labour, materials, and scope Qualifications/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related disciplineDesirableChartered status (RICS or equivalent professional body)Location Warrington - hybrid working with a mix of office-based and remote working.
