The Machinist shall manufacture mechanical prototypes and engineering models from sketches and conversations with Engineers and Technicians. The machinist shall work on various materials, including metal, plastics, nylon, composites, and others. The Machinist shall work with little or no direction from engineers..Key ResponsibilitiesProgram, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines, including mills and lathes.Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T specifications, and engineering drawings to produce precision parts.Works from prints, complex drawings, sketches, or samples to accomplish layout and plan for sequential machine operations.Works with a variety of metals and materials that have complex machining characteristics.Operates various hand and power tools to perform fabrication processes to include band saws, drill presses, mechanical shears, and punches.Write programs using Mastercam from blueprints and drawings to develop numerical code to operate CNC machinery assigning tool paths, feed rates and other cutting parameters.
