Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.Job Description/Preferred QualificationsWe are looking for an Electron Beam Product Engineer to join our systems engineering team in Ann Arbor, Michigan! The engineer will be the engineering tool owner for electron beam tools (similar to scanning electron microscopes) and will coordinate tool operating and maintenance activities across multi-functional teams. ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with the KLA global tool user community to ensure local tools are available for engineers worldwide during their work shifts.Troubleshoot and maintain semiconductor metrology and review tools to maintain both tool performance and uptime at high levels.Complete critical tool performance calibrations, specification validation, and periodic preventative maintenance.Monitor local and remote tool performance and uptime and lead efforts to quickly solve problems.In the event of challenging and complex tool problems, perform detailed investigation into the root cause of the tool failure through a structured problem-solving process.During critical activities, on-call support may be needed during evening, weekend, and holidays.Author clear and concise summaries of test results to share lessons learned with the technical community, and drive updates to service procedures on both development versions and released versions of tool products.Collaborate with global KLA engineering community to find solutions to problems on candidate's tools and tools led by other product engineers.Work in an ISO Class 5 clean room.Domestic and/or international travel may be required for initial training over a two-month period.This role requires 5 days a week onsite presence.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical, Material Science, or Mechanical engineeringHands on experience in high voltage, ultra-high vacuum, and electron microscopyInquisitive investigative skills for finding and solving system-level problemsEffective communication regarding problems and challenges throughout equipment operation and maintenance, including but not limited to problem summary, target statement, and fix execution report.Skilled at independently locating reference materials, troubleshooting issues, and proactively explore and assimilate new knowledgeDesign of Experiments (DOE) expertiseEnthusiasm and curiosity to learn.Understanding of precision instruments.Semiconductor Capital Equipment OEM experience is highly valuedStrong interpersonal presentation skills and technical writing skills5+ years of hands-on experience operating and servicing vacuum systems5+ years' experience working in a clean roomComfortable with python scripting, Matlab, and statistics packages such as JMP.Experience with electrical safety, and chemical hazard / safetyMinimum QualificationsMaster's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 yearsBase Pay Range: $76,300.00 - $129,700.00 AnnuallyPrimary Location: USA-MI-Ann Arbor-KLAKLA’s total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, and other voluntary benefits, 401(K) including company matching, employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement program, development and career growth opportunities and programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off and paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave.Interns are eligible for some of the benefits listed.
