Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.Job Description/Preferred QualificationsResponsibilities:Perform system integration, testing, characterization, and specification validation to ensure product performance and readiness.Lead system-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for manufacturing, customer, and field escalations, using data-driven methodologies to identify issues and drive corrective actionsConduct system performance evaluations, including error budgeting, measurement uncertainty analysis, and performance gap assessments, to identify improvement opportunities.Design and execute experiments, qualification plans, and characterization studies to support issue resolution, product validation, and maturity improvement.Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, algorithm, applications to resolve system-level issues and address new requirementsProvide technical leadership for product ramp support, including manufacturing tool builds, customer installations, qualification activities, and field investigations to ensure successful deployment and customer satisfactionDevelop and maintain troubleshooting methodologies, test procedures, best practices, and technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational excellence.Requirements:Strong system level troubleshooting and root cause analysis skillsSolid understanding of metrology systems, calibration, uncertainty analysis, and error budgetingHands on experience with electromechanical, optical, automation, sensing, or precision instrumentation systemsExperience in system integration, experiment design, performance characterization, DOE, GRR, ANOVA, and statistical analysisProficiency in engineering data analysis and modeling using Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar toolsAbility to communicate effectively across different functions to drive complex technical issues to closureMinimum QualificationsPhD in science or engineeringDoctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 yearsWe offer a competitive, family friendly total rewards package.
