Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.LocationMSB (Micron Singapore Bendemeer) DepartmentTest Solutions EngineeringProject TitleAI-Enabled Test Process Optimization and Technology QualificationProject DescriptionAs an intern within the Test Solutions Engineering team, you will undertake a structured engineering project related to semiconductor backend test processes, equipment capabilities, software, or operating methodologies.You will gain exposure to manufacturing and equipment data analysis, process-performance evaluation, and the qualification of new technologies for High Volume Manufacturing.ObjectivesDevelop an understanding of semiconductor backend test processes and equipment.Evaluate process and equipment data to identify performance gaps.Contribute to the qualification and transfer of new technologies or Best Known Methods.Identify opportunities to improve yield, quality, reliability, cycle time, and cost.Explore responsible applications of Artificial Intelligence in engineering workflows.Opportunities for Full Time EmploymentSuccessful completion of the internship may provide exposure to future career opportunities at Micron. Any future employment consideration will be subject to business needs, position availability, internship outcomes, and Micron’s recruitment process.Project ScopeStudy the mechanical, electrical, software, and material-interface requirements of backend test equipment.Analyze equipment and process indicators, including utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Mean Time to Repair, and Mean Time Between Failures.Participate in controlled engineering evaluations of equipment capabilities, software functions, or process methodologies.Apply structured problem-solving, risk assessment, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis techniques.Explore AI-Enabled methods for trend identification, reporting automation, knowledge retrieval, and engineering decision-making.Learning OpportunitiesLearn semiconductor backend test-process and test-handler equipment fundamentals.Understand equipment mechanical, electrical, electronics, software, and reliability considerations.Gain exposure to equipment communication protocols and manufacturing information systems.Learn how new processes and First-of-a-Kind technologies are evaluated for High Volume Manufacturing.Develop technical communication, data analysis, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.DeliverablesBaseline analysis of the selected equipment or test process.Data analysis identifying performance trends, process gaps, or recurring failure modes.Engineering evaluation, risk assessment, or qualification summary.Recommendations for improving process robustness, equipment effectiveness, quality, or cost.Final technical report and presentation, including an AI-Enabled proof of concept where applicable.The internship template includes interim and final reports or presentations as expected internship documentationImpact of the ProjectImprove understanding of backend test-process and equipment performance.Enable earlier identification of process deviations and equipment risks.Contribute to more robust technology qualification and transfer methods.Identify opportunities to improve yield, quality, reliability, cycle time, and cost.Demonstrate responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in manufacturing engineering.Skillsets RequiredFundamental knowledge of electrical, electronics, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Familiarity with statistical analysis, data visualization, programming, or engineering analysis tools.Interest in semiconductor backend test processes, equipment, and communication protocols.Familiarity with Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI Assistants, or AI-Enabled workflows.Course of InterestThe ideal candidate should be pursuing Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering course.Duration of PeriodThe ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full time internship period of at least 5 months.About Micron Technology, Inc.We are an industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions transforming how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
