OverviewJoin Microsoft’s Data Center Delivery team and play a critical role in building the infrastructure that powers the world's leading cloud services. In this role, you will lead and support data center construction and integration activities across campus and local projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Microsoft’s high quality standards. This aligns closely with Data Center Delivery’s mission of safely delivering high-quality, sustainable data center facilities while meeting design, schedule, and budget objectives. You will work closely with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to oversee project execution, review technical designs and documentation, evaluate risks, and drive data-based decision making throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires strong collaboration, project management, and technical expertise to coordinate resources, monitor contractor performance, manage project metrics, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.As a trusted project partner and onsite safety advocate, you will help mitigate risks, promote a culture of safety, and contribute to the successful delivery of mission-critical data center infrastructure that supports Microsoft's global cloud and AI platform. Responsibilities Budget and ControlsMonitors the approved project budget and provides oversight for project controls (e.g., Project Expenditure Request (PERs), Professional Services Request (PSRs), Change Orders, Pay Applications, etc.).Change ManagementPartners with the Internal Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), and other Microsoft key stakeholders (e.g., Commercial Software Engineering [CSE] and Real Estate & Facilities [RE&F], etc.) and shares updated process flow information with the project team to ensure new processes are being followed that increase cost savings and improve overall cycle-time and efficiencies.CoordinationAttends and advises during scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings, advocating for safe and secure security-first mindset during project planning. Coordinates meetings and activities of vendors and cost managers, and attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings.Drives ResultsFacilitates the delivery of local projects (e.g., new construction, infrastructure improvements) by making timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams and stakeholders. Champions team and project goals, adhering to business processes, engaging vendor relationships when/where applicable, and fostering cross-group collaboration efforts aligned to the project strategy, milestone delivery, and core values and priorities (Safety, Security, Quality, Schedule, Cost).Financial AcumenApplies best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions to meet project delivery at each site location. Applies influence, strategies, and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions.Goal AlignmentCollaborates with internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Center for International Social Science Research [CISSR], Commercial Software Engineering [CSE], Legal, Project Controls, etc.) to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the project.Managing ResourcesConfirms the scoped resources (e.g., people, materials, equipment) are available for the job. Partners with senior construction staff to procure additional materials as needed.Project ManagementDrives data center construction/integration activities on local/campus projects (e.g., new or retrofit data center facilities) and provides key input on all data center fit-out related activities, leveraging experiences and technical knowledge to ensure sound and data-driven decisions, as well as prioritization of security in documentation, design, and/or execution.Project TrackingProvides specific project data supporting cost and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics, invoices, processes, and policies in order to communicate status to client partners. Reports on project progress regarding scope, schedule, standards, and budget.Risk MitigationReviews and assists with developing risk mitigation activities and communicating metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to track and drive progress. Analyzes safety and security metrics and communicates results to leadership to drive action and accountability.Safety and RegulationRepresents Microsoft as a safety leader and advocate onsite ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], or equivalent) to ensure compliance and aggressive management of risk. Conducts routine safety program, security, project, and contractor audits, and performs and participates in incident investigations.Technical AcumenReviews engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information. Identifies potential risks/gaps and recommendations to teammates and/or other internal partners, ensuring solutions adhere to security core priorities and guidelines.Vendor ManagementAssists with the monitoring of vendor and/or contractor performance, ensuring compliance with security policies, non-disclosure agreements, contracts, and prior audit results. Reviews vendor performance relative to cash flow and budget summaries (with the cost management team) and clarifies those reports in presentations to the delivery and executive teams.Vendor SelectionAssists with preparing Request for Proposal (RFPs), Project Expenditure Requests (PERs), and other project approval tools and templates.Qualifications Required/minimum qualificationsBachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.Additional or preferred qualificationsBachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.7+ years experience working on data center projects. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience. (experience, 5 years)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience. (experience, 8 years)
  • 7+ years experience working on data center projects. (experience, 7 years)
