(*in collaboration with AbbVie)About the Role:Supports Business Development activities through identification, scientific evaluation, and analysis of potential licensing opportunities and partnerships in the biopharmaceutical space. Conducts comprehensive search and evaluation activities and generates competitive landscapes focused on identifying promising therapeutic assets and technologies to expand the company's pipeline. Performs detailed scientific assessment of opportunities, including analysis of mechanism of action, preclinical/clinical data, and therapeutic/market potential. Maintains deep scientific understanding of current and future trends in therapeutic innovations, with particular focus on emerging technologies and treatment modalities. Participates in due diligence activities, including review of scientific documentation and coordination with subject matter experts. Contributes to the development of business cases and leads deal execution processes with a strong demonstration of business, IP, and legal comprehension. Assists in the preparation of proposals, negotiations, and presentations for licensing opportunities, working cross-functionally with internal teams to advance business development objectives._Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Manages projects regarding business development transactions anywhere from early development through commercializationLeads cross-functional internal and external project teams and meet pre-defined objectives and timelinesLeads and assists with due diligence on potential business development opportunities, including product and technology assessmentLeads valuation work on potential business development opportunitiesMonitors industry trends, companies, technologies and therapeutic areas of relevance to the CompanyPartners closely with the Research and Development teams to determine priority and focus of external opportunitiesCoordinates both internal and external diligence team meetingsDevelops and reviews contracts in close collaboration with Legal, IP, and Finance teamsCoordinates the Company’s efforts at partnering conferencesOutreaches to potential collaborators, including academic centers and prospective corporate partnersAssists with background research on topics such as novel targets, therapeutic areas, companies, and competitive landscapesWorks with vendors, investment banks or other third-party consultants assisting Neurocrine on BD opportunitiesCreates and reviews BD presentationsAssists in the building and maintenance of the BD team infrastructureEnsures all interactions are compliant with internal policies, governmental regulations and best practicesSelects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the functionOther duties as assignedRequirements:BS/BA degree in life sciences, finance, business or similar field and 8+ years of business development, venture capital, investment research, investment banking, corporate development or related experience; 2+ years of biotechnology/pharmaceutical in scientific based role preferred ORMaster's degree in scientific field or MBA and 6+ years of similar experience noted above ORPhD in scientific field and 4+ years of similar experience noted aboveDemonstrated knowledge of search and evaluation with preclinical and clinical stage assets and platforms in Neurology/Immunology/Endocrinology/Psychiatry across therapeutic modalities including, but not limited to, small molecules, antibodies, peptides, oligonucleotides, gene therapyDemonstrated functional expertise working in a Biotech/Pharma industry R&D setting with some experience in a business development, venture capital, investment research, investment banking, and/or corporate development functionStrong scientific acumen to identify key differentiation factors of potential partner programs/platforms and ability to take meticulous notesStrong understanding of biotechnology/pharmaceutical competitive landscapeStrong knowledge of biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processesAbility to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiencyExcellent project management, strong project leadership skillsApply strong demonstration of business, IP, and legal comprehension to deal-makingAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
