With a focus on teamwork, technology, and operational excellence, you’ll play a key role in keeping things moving smoothly while growing your skills in a dynamic environment.Old Dominion Freight Line is currently looking for a Pick up & Delivery Supervisor to join our OD Family Culture. Our P & D Supervisor is responsible for supervising drivers while coordinating the timely pickup and delivery of shipments in a fast-paced environment within the local operation to meet department/shift and service center standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service and delivery. The supervisor must complete the various company and government forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, inter-terminal movement forms (ITM's) and exception forms. Constantly uses OD’s proprietary technology system permitting consistent monitoring of shipment locations as freight moves through the various terminals while communicating continuously throughout the day with drivers/associates, customers and team members verbally and through other computer operating systems.Responsibilities:Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee and/or driver on a daily basisManages, assigns and supervises pickups and deliveries to employees in the area to ensure proper utilization of employees, equipment, loading and unloading while meeting OD and customer expectationsManages all driver work schedules and time off requestClosely works with the Operations Manager/Ast. SC Manager and/or Service Center Manager to ensure alignment in meeting daily/weekly/monthly and yearly business objectivesProvide analyses, suggestions and ideas for the improvement of operations within the shift, department and facilityComplete the various company and government forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping manifests, freight bills, inter-terminal movement forms (ITM's) and exception formsConstantly uses OD’s proprietary technology system permitting consistent monitoring of shipment locations as freight moves through the various terminals while communicating continuously throughout the day with drivers/associates, customers and team members verbally and through other computer operating systemsProvides positive and constructive feedback to employees on a continual basis regarding ROI, MPH, Stops Per Hour, return shipments, missed shipments, delivery/pick up errors, overall productivity, etc. This also includes handling disciplinary action as needed at the discretion of the supervisorEnsure compliance with local state, federal, federal safety regulations, as well as OSHA compliance, and DOT complianceEnsures that pickups and deliveries are made to minimize missed pickups while working within DOT hours of service regulationsSchedules pick up and deliveries to ensure freight arrives back at the service center to meet schedulesOperates AS400 system, BLU system, DYMS, ERSI and any other computer/internal freight monitoring systems used within the company to monitor freight movementEnsures, when practical, that shipments are head loaded or through loaded to destination at initial pick upConducts shift meetings as neededMake quick and informed decisions based on the schedules and communicates schedule to affected employeesInspects working conditions of tools and equipment needed for safe operation within the area and directs the correction of any improper or adverse condition that existsComprehends and ensures compliance with company and government regulations.Works regularly scheduled shift as well as another shift/s as needed. Must be available to work depending upon customer pick up and deliveries scheduledInteracts with customers via phone and emailQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent. Some College preferred.Bachelor’s degree preferred2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industrySupervisory experience preferredWorking knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systemsKnowledge of general DOT regulationsGood verbal and written communication skillsWorking Days:Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Working Shift:AM / PMWork Days and Shift are estimates and are subject to change, at any given time, based on job scheduling and/or business levels.
