This position is assigned to the Financial Accounting Section of Rakuten Symphony Financial Management Department, Rakuten Group, Inc.The Accounting team (in charge of overseas operations) is promoting the establishment of a global financial and accounting operational structure to support rapid business expansion in terms of both operations and governance.As a member of the accounting team, this position will involve not only daily accounting tasks but also participate in various projects, such as planning and establishment of new operations, improvement activities, and co-working with overseas group companies on a wide range of areas.Position:Why We HireWe are seeking an initiative-taking and experienced Financial Accounting Manager to join our global accounting team. This role is pivotal in supporting our rapid business expansion by establishing robust financial operational structures and strengthening governance across our international subsidiaries. The successful candidate will manage complex accounting operations, oversee group-wide financial workflows, and lead strategic projects to enhance operational efficiency.Position Details・Core Accounting Operations: Lead the annual, quarterly, and monthly closing processes for domestic entities. Oversee general accounting, including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable management, and the preparation of financial statements and consolidation packages.・Asset & Compliance Management: Manage fixed assets, specifically focusing on system development costs, R&D expenditures, and software capitalization. Ensure compliance with statutory audits, J-SOX requirements, and internal audit standards.・Regulatory Reporting: Prepare mandatory documentation in accordance with the Companies Act of Japan.・Subsidiary Governance: Provide oversight and support to international subsidiaries (U.S., Europe, Singapore, and India), ensuring alignment with group accounting policies.・Strategic Projects: Design, implement, and optimize accounting processes and systems. Formulate group-wide accounting policies and promote their adoption to enhance financial governance and operational efficiency.Work Environment・Headcount: Approx. 20 people in the Rakuten Symphony Financial Management Department (5-10 people per section)・Age Group: Primarily 20s and 30s・New Graduates vs. Mid-career Hires: 2:8Joined Rakuten Group, Inc. after working at a Big 4 accounting firm, where the primary focus was serving general trading company clients.
