We are seeking a Scientist to join our Product Biochemistry team, on-site in Tarrytown, NY. In this role, you will support late-stage development (Phase II through commercialization) of biologics, developing and deploying analytical methods and purification strategies, enriching and characterizing product variants, and helping onboard new technologies that deepen product understanding and improve processes across the pipeline.This position offers the opportunity to bring scientific creativity, efficiency, and flexibility to a fast-paced, science-driven organization making a meaningful difference to patients worldwide.When & where:Shift Requirements: Full-time, standard business hoursLocation: On-site in Tarrytown, NYFlexibility & travel: Minimal to no travel; on-site presence required to support laboratory operationsWhat you'll do:Develop analytical methods and purification protocols to support extended characterization of therapeutic proteins and gene therapy vectorsConduct biochemical/biophysical characterization to support development, regulatory submissions, and commercializationApply DOE, advanced statistics, and risk assessments to evaluate and optimize methods and processesDesign and execute experiments to enrich, purify, and characterize size/charge variants, complexes, and high-concentration formulationsIndependently operate U/HPLCs and AKTA FPLCs, and perform capillary-based electrophoresisIntegrate learnings from internal data and external literature to make science-based study design recommendationsAuthor high-quality technical documents (protocols, reports, memos), contribute to regulatory sections and publications, and ensure timely documentation of experiments in accordance with established SOPs and guidelinesDocument experiments, results, and findings in the electronic laboratory notebook, and present work at group and department meetingsMaintain instruments, troubleshoot instrumental/experimental problems, order/maintain supplies, and improve lab/data workflows within your area of expertiseThe environment and physical rhythms of this role:This is a hands-on, on-site laboratory role requiring independent operation of specialized analytical instrumentation and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving R&D environment.Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment while also working independently across multiple projects, and to mentor others while contributing to a safe, efficient, and inclusive lab environment, is required.Let's find out if we're a fit:Must-haves:BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Engineering, or a related field, with 8-10+ years of relevant industry experienceStrong lab skills in protein separation, purification, and tangential flow filtration (TFF), and skills in protein/product identification using mass spectrometryExcellent oral and written communication skills and evidence of teamworkStrong initiative to complete tasks, learn new technologies, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learningAbility to communicate clearly, transparently, and in a timely manner with key stakeholdersPreferred / nice-to-haves:Technical proficiency in automated FPLC and/or HPLC (SEC, IEX, affinity), electrophoresis (capillary or microchip, SDS-PAGE, western blots), spectroscopy, and light scatteringFundamental understanding of protein structure/function, mass spectrometry, and immunology/immunogenicityExperience working in the biopharmaceutical industryThrive today.
