Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM. The AMPCC is focused on the research, development, and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units.What You Will DoThe Senior Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer will be challenged with solving unique and interesting problems to enable new commercial aerospace and defense products. They will be responsible for one or more of the following activities as they relate to the AMPCC, including:Support RTX Business Units by providing process expertise and IQ/OQ/MQ tools and best practices to increase the rate of additive adoptionExplore the capabilities of advanced measurement tools for characterizing machine inputs and melt pool / material responses with the goal of quantifying and reducing variabilityLead root cause investigations on build failures, machine or process issues, or product performance gaps and implement corrective actionsQuantify the Process-Structure-Property characteristics of additive materialsCollaborate with government, industry, academic, and RTX Business Unit partners to develop whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposalsExecute and oversee development builds on a wide variety of Additive Manufacturing machinesWork with cross-functional teams including materials, design, simulation, operations, and characterization engineers to support and improve the full value streamQualifications You Must HaveThe preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of engineering principles and hands on experience working with laboratory equipment. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills including:Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experienceMinimum 1 year of scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similarMinimum 1 year of experience with CAD toolsHands-on experience operating manufacturing equipmentQualifications We PreferPreferred candidates for this position will have an advanced degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
