The position will be located within a new bespoke facility in Wolverhampton.Reporting to the ASG-UK Site Lead – Chief Engineer, you will be working as part of a team of technical innovators will provide technical leadership and design authority for the development of electric actuation systems and associated subsystems, supporting programmes from concept through to production and in-service support.What You Will DoAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electric actuation systems and associated subsystems, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and qualification.Your responsibilities will include:Generating innovative design concepts and product configurations for electro-mechanical actuation systemsSupporting all stages of the design lifecycle, from requirements capture and proposals through detailed design, manufacture, and qualificationDeveloping robust, lightweight, and cost-effective engineering solutionsProducing high-quality manufacturing data packages, including drawings and tolerance analysesLeading and supporting detailed design activities within multidisciplinary engineering teamsEnsuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and in-service requirementsSupporting system integration and installation activities across actuation systems and interfacing equipmentConducting design reviews and delivering technical presentations to internal and external stakeholdersSupporting risk identification, risk mitigation, and design assurance activitiesInvestigating product issues during development, qualification, production, and in-service operationSupporting failure investigations and corrective action programmesProviding technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, graduates, and placement studentsSupporting technology roadmap development and future capability growth initiativesCollaborating with global engineering teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvementSupporting customer engagement activities and new business opportunitiesThe role will be based in a new Collins Aerospace facility in Wolverhampton, UK, with <10% international travel.What You Must HaveDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualificationDemonstrated experience in a design engineering environmentStrong understanding of machine design and electro-mechanical product developmentExperience developing mechanical or electro-mechanical systems throughout the product lifecycleProven problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience supporting technical investigations and root cause analysis activitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong organisational and planning skills with attention to detailPassion for engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous developmentDesirable ExperienceExperience using CATIA CAD softwareExperience using Teamcenter PLM systemsAerospace product development experienceExperience supporting qualification and certification programmesKnowledge of aerospace actuation systems and aircraft equipment designWhat We OfferPeople are core to what we do. Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electric actuation systems and associated subsystems, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and qualification.
  • Generating innovative design concepts and product configurations for electro-mechanical actuation systems
  • Supporting all stages of the design lifecycle, from requirements capture and proposals through detailed design, manufacture, and qualification
  • Developing robust, lightweight, and cost-effective engineering solutions
