Our portfolio includes industry-leading MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and the TERPROM® Digital Terrain Reference Navigation System.We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our collaborative engineering team in a hybrid role based in Plymouth, helping to shape the future of aerospace navigation technologies.What You Will DoAs a Software Engineer, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, supporting the design, development, integration and verification of embedded software solutions.Key responsibilities include:Supporting requirements analysis activitiesTranslating system requirements into detailed software requirementsDeveloping user stories and use casesDesigning embedded software architectures and detailed software designsProducing test specifications and verification proceduresDeveloping embedded software, primarily in C, with some C++ for support systems and toolsVerifying software against requirements and design specificationsPerforming hardware and software integration activitiesSupporting performance qualification and validation testingDeveloping software test tools and utilitiesWorking effectively within cross-functional engineering teamsWhat You Must HaveDegree qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experienceExperience working across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Experience developing real-time embedded software applicationsStrong programming skills in C, with exposure to C++Familiarity with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)Excellent communication and technical documentation skillsStrong team-working capabilities combined with a proactive, self-motivated approachA customer-focused mindset with attention to quality and detailExperience using Visual Studio or similar development environmentsSkills and Experience We ValueWhile not essential, the following experience would be advantageous:Experience using software modelling and design tools such as Enterprise ArchitectUnderstanding of UML and software design methodologiesKnowledge of version control systems such as Git, SVN or PVCSExperience with Test Driven Development (TDD)Familiarity with Ada programming language and GNAT Pro StudioExperience contributing to project planning, estimation or bid activitiesExposure to Python, MATLAB or SimulinkExperience working within aerospace, defence or other safety-critical industriesWhat We Offer: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
