The position will be located within a new bespoke facility in Wolverhampton.Reporting to the ASG-UK Site Lead – Chief Engineer you will be the technical focal point for the project across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and architecture definition through design, verification, certification, industrialisation and in-service support. This is an exciting opportunity to shape future electric actuation system technologies and deliver robust, reliable and certifiable solutions for demanding aerospace applications.What You Will DoIn this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to a multifunctional product development team, driving innovation of new technology and maturing robust product designs to certification for aerospace electric actuation applications.Your responsibilities will include:Working within a team of engineers contributing to the development of aerospace actuation systemsProviding technical input and engineering expertise across assigned work packagesSupporting system design activities throughout the full product lifecycle, from requirements through to qualification and production supportContributing to system trade studies and technical assessmentsSupporting engineering planning activities in collaboration with project and engineering leadsContributing to design reviews and technical discussions with internal stakeholdersSupporting the development of robust and innovative engineering solutionsWorking with subject matter experts to support engineering integrity and compliance with design processesSupporting technical investigations and contributing to root cause analysis activitiesAssisting in the capture of lessons learned and continuous improvement activitiesSupporting customer and supplier technical discussions where requiredContributing to the development of engineering tools, methods, and future capabilitySupporting the preparation of technical documentation and engineering outputsSharing knowledge and supporting the development of junior engineers within the teamThe role will be based in a new Collins Aerospace facility in Wolverhampton, UK, with <20% international travel.What You Must HaveDegree in Engineering or equivalent qualification (Mechanical or related discipline preferred)Experience in aerospace or electro-mechanical system design and developmentUnderstanding of aerospace actuation systems or similar complex mechanical systemsExperience working within multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience supporting technical investigations and engineering issue resolutionAbility to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectivelyGood understanding of engineering principles and design processesAbility to work collaboratively in a structured engineering environmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to engineering qualityDesirable ExperienceExperience working on aerospace development or certification programmesKnowledge of electro-mechanical actuation systemsFamiliarity with engineering analysis tools and methods (e.g. CAD/FEA tools such as CATIA or ANSYS)Understanding of aerospace development standards (e.g. ARP4754, DO-178, DO-254)Experience supporting design reviews and engineering verification activitiesWhat We OfferPeople are core to what we do.
