Role SummaryThe AVP Database & Cloud Platform hands-on Support Manager/Lead will be responsible for providing L2/L3 operational support, reliability engineering, and technical leadership for enterprise database and cloud platforms hosted on AWS. The role serves as the senior escalation point for production issues impacting PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, data pipelines, and associated AWS services.The individual will drive platform stability, incident reduction, performance optimization, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery readiness, and operational excellence while partnering with application, infrastructure, security, and cloud engineering teams.Primary ResponsibilitiesProduction Support & Incident ManagementAct as L3 escalation point for major production incidents.Lead troubleshooting of database, platform, and cloud infrastructure issues.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions.Coordinate incident communications and stakeholder updates.Participate in on-call support rotations and major incident bridges.Monitor platform SLAs and operational KPIs.Database Platform SupportSupport and administration of:AWS RDS PostgreSQLAmazon RedshiftSnowflakeAurora PostgreSQLOther enterprise databasesResponsibilities include:Availability managementPerformance troubleshootingQuery tuningBackup and recovery validationPatch managementDatabase upgradesSpace and capacity managementUser administration and access supportAWS Platform OperationsSupport AWS services including:EC2RDSRedshiftS3LambdaEFS/EBSKinesisCloudWatchIAMResponsibilities include:Service monitoringOperational supportInfrastructure troubleshootingCapacity planningSecurity remediationDR testing and validationMonitoring & ObservabilityConfigure and maintain monitoring solutions.Investigate alerts and recurring operational issues.Develop operational dashboards and health reports.Improve observability across database and cloud platforms.Tools may include:GrafanaKibanaELKCloudWatchSecurity, Audit & ComplianceSupport audit and regulatory requests.Implement vulnerability remediation plans.Manage database access reviews.Support IAM and privileged access controls.Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.Coordinate patching and security upgrades.Platform Reliability & Continuous ImprovementIdentify recurring issues and drive permanent fixes.Reduce manual operational tasks through automation.Improve platform resiliency and recovery capabilities.Develop SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.Drive problem management initiatives.Stakeholder & Vendor ManagementWork closely with application support teams, data engineering teams, and business stakeholders.Coordinate with AWS, Snowflake, and database vendors.Participate in change management and release activities.Provide technical leadership during production events.Technical SkillsDatabasesPostgreSQLAmazon RedshiftSnowflakeAurora PostgreSQLCloud PlatformsAWS RDSEC2S3LambdaCloudWatchIAMMonitoringGrafanaKibanaELKAutomation & ScriptingSQLPythonShell ScriptingAnsibleTerraform (preferred)Experience Requirements8–12+ years of database administration and production support experience.5+ years supporting cloud-hosted database platforms.Strong experience in Incident, Problem, Change, and Capacity Management.Experience supporting mission-critical financial applications.Experience working within 24x7 operational support environments.Salary Range: $90,000 - $157,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
